Today, I had the pleasure (not!) of taking Jules in to have blood drawn. My husband was with me and he held her for the first attempt. It was determined after the first try that her vein was smaller than the needle so they should make sure exactly where the vein was before they tried again. Excuse me? So, after finding another vein they tried again...only to be unsuccessful again. In the process of the two failed attempts, they moved the needle around in her arm for a minute or two each time trying to hit the vein. All the time Jules is screaming and crying at the top of her lungs. My heart was breaking. I had to hold her while these so called professionals tortured my child. Finally, it was determined they should try a finger poke. Jules didn't even acknowledge they poked her finger. She was too traumatized by the needle sticks to care. However, when her finger started bleeding from the poke she kept saying "bleeding, bleeding, bleeding" over and over again until they bandaged her little finger.
Sophia also had an ultrasound today. She did quite well and held still most of the time.
The little ones are alright, but mommy is a tad traumatized.
